About
Welcome to The Obliviad, a home for minds intrigued by the increasing acceleration of technology and the limitless possibilities our futures hold. We believe that our future is not set in stone but is a manifold of many pathways that we can traverse and even author.
Each week, we work with AI to publish short stories, exploring potential futures shaped by AGI and other significant technological wonderments. Our narratives stretch from the near future to the distant epochs, from Earth to the farthest reaches of the cosmos and beyond.
We invite you on this journey, to explore these narratives, and to share your insight. As we chart territories of the future, we aim to foster a community that’s excited by the prospects of change, that embraces the challenges of the unknown, and that thrives in the pursuit of understanding.
Join us as we peer into oblivion.
Inspiration
The Obliviad was born from a deep respect and admiration for pioneering minds like Isaac Asimov, Neal Stephenson, Carl Sagan, Tolkien, and R. Scott Bakker, whose visionary narratives of the future have left an indelible impact on our perspectives. We draw inspiration from the enlightening explorations of PBS Spacetime, the insightful animations of Kurzgesagt, and the stimulating ideas of VSauce.
Process
Our stories are dreamed up by humans (for now) and enhanced with AI. This can range from humans providing a few bullet points, and AI takes on the bulk of the writing, to humans writing the entire story without AI assistance. In either case, we follow an extensive human editing and review process, which may sometimes involve AI-assisted tools. We take great care to ensure that our AI collaborators do not infringe upon the work of other authors, and we make an honest effort to protect originality and creativity. All of our work is checked for plagiarism with well known tools like Grammarly.
